Summary
My wife and I went to Miami for a reunion of her college friends in March and had a wonderful trip. We hadn’t been to Miami in many years and it reminded us how easy it is to get to from NY (2 hour flight), how wonderful the weather is in March (70s and 80s each day) and that with all of the COVID challenges, it is nice to have it be a domestic trip. We went for 2 nights – without the kids which sometimes makes the trips feel twice as long.
Accommodations
As we were reminded pretty quickly, the location u stay within Miami definitely defines the hotels in that area. South Beach was our neighborhood of choice for the wonderful beach access and liveliness of the area. We stayed at the newly renovated Ritz-Carlton South Beach and it was a wonderful experience. The pool scene, beach access, chic vibe and rooms were all great. We are excited to return in the future!

Dining:
The food scene was great and with only two nights we had to be particular. Our favorite meals were at The Serena at Moxy Rooftop (Mexican), Byblos (Mediterranean) and Macchialina Taverna Rustica (Italian). Next time we will certainly try Mila (Asian), Watr at the 1 (Peruvian Inspired Japanese), Casa Tua (Italian); For brunch in south beach, there is no better than Jaya at the Setai (next time we’ll also try Yardbird and Habitat); we also loved exploring Wynwood and the design district –specifically Bakan – and next time we’ll also try KYU (Asian) and Le Chic (American).
Activities:
The trip very much centered around dining but we made it to the pool party and beach at the Ritz-Carlton along with a wonderful Sunset Cruise – Tropical Sailing. Next time we would rent a private charter through Biscayne Lady Charters.
Recommendation
We would certainly recommend a trip to Miami during the winter months as a wonderful escape from NYC or any other cold climate. Summers get quite hot/humid but Nov/Dev to April/May have been wonderful. Enjoy your trip!
