Summary
I went to Bodrum during our summer break in August 2024 with my wife and our two young children (9 son, 6 daughter) along with two other close family friends. This trip was part of a 9-day trip that began in London and ended in Bodrum (there are direct flights between the two). The trip was wonderful – it was a great family break bonding with friends and we love to do the leisure part of our trips at the end so we can end feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. We spent four days staying on the coast near the vibrant Yalikavak Marina area – this was perfect because we could easily get to the popular spots, restaurants and experiences. The weather cooperated nicely – 80s every day, breezy nights and no rain. There is no Uber – but taxis were easy to find and use and we managed to do what we wanted during a short visit.
Accommodations
During our visit to Bodrum, we stayed at The Bodrum Edition. The Edition is in a perfect location on the beach – it has a very modern feel, an awesome beach and pool and lovely breakfast set up. The experience was outstanding and we can’t wait to return.

Activities
-
- The best activities in Bodrum are the beach clubs (we enjoyed the one at our hotel Bodrum Edition Beach Club), sailing trips (we loved Barbaros Yachting with Captain Salih) and sunset spots with amazing views (check out Scorpios Bodrum
- Other favorite destinations in Bodrum included Bodrum Castle (history) and the Yalikavak Marina (for great dining options)
Dining
-
- One of the best parts of visiting Turkey is the amazing local food – consider Kurul Bitez, Kosebasi and otantik ocakbaşı
- We also loved some of the international options including – Hakkassan at the Mandarin Oriental (Asian), Brava at the Edition (Italian), Zuma (Japanese) and Novikov (Italian) at the Yalikavak Marina
- As always, we love our vacation ice cream/gelato spots – including Bitez Ice Cream in Bitez and Gelato Pioppo at the Marina
Recommendation
I would highly recommend an extended break to Bodrum. The weather, the dining, the activities are so much fun. Make reservations and plan excursions well ahead of time to get the spots and experiences you want. Enjoy!
